What's Happening in Greenville, SC…

After being closed for more than two months, the Greenville Zoo is going to reopen for the general public.

The giraffes, monkeys, and lions will all be the same. However, new social distancing regulations mean there will be some differences for visitors.

First, there will be timed entries at the gates, to ensure the zoo does not get overcrowded, Only a set number of visitors will be allowed in at any time. Visitors can reserve a timeslot and ensure expedient entry by contacting the zoo office.

Also, visitors will be allowed to travel only in one direction through the exhibits and the gift shop. Restrooms will be open, but they will be equipped with hands-free technology. Inside exhibits, playgrounds and water fountains will be closed.

Greenville is one of many zoos around the world that have begun to open to the public. The pandemic has hit zoos especially hard as revenues fell flat, but all the animals still needed to be taken care of and fed.

Zoo hours and admission fees will remain the same. Adult tickets are $9.75, with special discounts for seniors and active or retired military personnel, and $6.50 for children. Children under two are free.

The Greenville Zoo will open to the public on Monday, June 8. The zoo is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day. The last admission is at 4:15 p.m. The Greenville Zoo is located at 150 Cleveland Park Drive.
