What's Happening in Greenville, SC…

A good walking stick can be a hiker's best friend, and a Greenville class will see members of the public craft one of these helpful tools themselves.

The Walking Stick Workshop will transform a piece of unfinished wood into an item that can be helpful when hiking, and all of the materials will be supplied. The class is aimed towards those aged 13 and up, and if the weather proves unsuitable, the activity will be rescheduled for a later date.

The participants will meet at the Conestee Nature Preserve Fork Shoals entrance, and they will hike to the location where the crafting will take place. There will be prepared saplings for them to choose from, and they will be walked through the process of carving and finishing their walking stick. Each will be unique, and further instructions will be distributed closer to the event’s scheduled date, by email, to those who sign up.

A crafting class can give newbies the option to try out something different in a fun and supportive environment. A flyer printing company will have a variety of ways to help spread the word about an upcoming class to the general public.

This introduction to the art of carving wood by hand will begin at 2:00pm on February 3. Attendees will be asked to meet up at 601 Fork Shoals Road trail head 15 minutes ahead of time.
