South Carolina's so-called greenest city is well-suited for celebrating the luck of the Irish with a St. Patrick's Day parade and festival next month.
The parade is organized by the Greenville St. Patrick's Day Committee, which describes itself as a nonpolitical group where volunteer members promote and encourage Irish culture. It is actively looking for more volunteers to help out with the annual parade and other events.
Greenville residents have celebrated St. Patrick's Day ever since 1918, when a group of soldiers paraded through the town. Ever since, the day has been celebrated with theater shows, festivals, and concerts.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) took over the parade hosting in 2012. The AOH is an Irish-American organization that exists across the USA. The AOH has expanded the parade over time to a fully-fledged march through downtown Greenville, involving a variety of community members and organizations, and it has become one of the biggest events in the region. The Greenville St. Patrick's Day Committee is an arm of the AOH.

The Greenville St. Patrick's Day Parade takes place Saturday, March 14 at County Square at 11:00am. The parade travels up Main Street to the Hyatt Greenville. The Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick's Day Festival then begins at NOMA Square.
