As a special initiative for this year’s Earth Day, a Greenville company that provides outsourcing IT support services is offering businesses a reduced rate for recycling outdated computer hardware.

Palmetto Technology Group, headquartered in Greenville and specializing in Office 365 and Microsoft cloud software, is offering this as part of its B2B computer recycling program, where the company recycles the equipment after the data had been thoroughly wiped off so that electronics do not end up in landfills. This is in accordance with South Carolina law.

According to Reed Wilson, CEO of Palmetto Technology Group, storing and disposing of obsolete computer equipment can be a logistical challenge for its customers, so the company feels it has a responsibility to help its customers with the disposing of and recycling outdated equipment and making sure that data security is maintained. The company offers this recycling service throughout the year, but for Earth Day it is being provided at a discounted rate as long as long as there is a signed service agreement.

Throughout this month, the company will be offering a 50% discount on its recycling service. This means that the cost to recycle a computer will be $35 and $55 for a server.
