Greenville’s efforts to attract business headquarters have proved successful recently with a nonprofit international engineering group, The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), moving in on the other side of the street from Verdae Marketfair shopping center.
NCEES, founded in 1920, is a nonprofit organization that represents licensing boards for engineering and surveying throughout the U.S. Among the services it provides is the creation of exams utilized to license professional surveyors and engineers.
Hundreds of surveyors and engineers will be coming to Greenville each year to visit the NCEES headquarters to assist with exam development. A news release from the organization announced that their relocation to the 70,600-square-foot BI-LO space would provide an economic impact of $1 million for the city’s hospitality industry.
The building, which was promoted as Greenville’s sole Class A office space, due to being over 50,000 square feet, was bought in 2016 by a Missouri investment firm for $16.7 million. In May of 2018 the structure was listed for lease, and a year later NCEES bought it.
Planning for a move well in advance gives companies plenty of time to use up all of their paper goods showing their old address and stock up on new Business Cards and Letterheads.
Relocating from the group’s current headquarters in Seneca to Greenville is expected to take place in spring of 2020.
