Greenville skating rink puts another winter on ice

Greenville residents will once again lace up their ice skates and glide their way around the city's downtown.

The United Community Bank is an open-air skating rink that gets built every winter in downtown Greenville. It first opened in 2011, and since then it has seen almost 115,000 skaters take to the ice.

Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children. The fee includes the rental of a pair of skates, which are available at the rink in sizes ranging from children's 9, to men's 13.

There are no pets allowed. Visitors who do not know how to ice skate can use some a ‘Skate Scooter’ for support. The scooters are available for children under 12 years-old. There are also skate sleds available to use free of charge.

United Community Bank has been the main sponsor of the ice rink for seven years. The City of Greenville funds the project through community partnerships.

Print shops are helpful resources in events where partnerships are prevalent. Banner printing and poster printing are effective ways to advertise to visitors as part of the sponsorship agreement.

This year, the ice rink officially opens November 15. It is open every day until January 20, 2020, and is located at Village Green, 206 S. Main Street. Hours are Monday to Thursday 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Fridays 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Saturdays 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, and Sundays 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Hours vary during Christmas week so skaters are encouraged to check the event's website before going.
