While the holidays are usually a festive time of the year, they can sometimes present special challenges, and an upcoming short workshop aimed at those who work in the hospice field is on the way for Greenville.
Margot Rabren and Dr. Daniel Smith will serve as the facilitators for a lunch and learn session that will provide insight into ways to support hospice patients and their families during the holiday season. Along with learning, the participants will walk away with a list of resources that may be useful to them after the one-hour-long activity.
The presentation will review the roles hospice medical social workers (MSWs) and chaplains take on, and there will be practical, actionable tips provided for a holistic care model. Dealing with stress and caregiver fatigue will be discussed, and the value of self-care in preventing staff and family “burnout” is also on the agenda.
A lunch and learn gives professionals an opportunity to add to their skillset in a short amount of time. Handouts and other learning materials may be ordered from area printers, which will be able to include any charts, pictures, or other graphic design elements required.
This holiday-focused installment of the monthly Hospice Education Series will begin at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 4. MS Teams in Grenville will serve as the venue for the function.
