First the city was named as one of the best places in the U.S. to live, and now it has received recognition from Outdoor Magazine as one of the best places to visit.
The list of best travel destinations was compiled with input from travel literature editors, and includes areas in Chile, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Sweden, and Tanzania.
The city is listed under the heading ‘South Carolina’ on Outdoor Magazine’s ‘Best 33 Trips of 2019’, but make no mistake, only Greenville and the mountainous area surrounding it are mentioned.
The city was mentioned as a “burgeoning Southern adventure hub” – a phrase that could well find its way into brochure printings for at least some enterprises as well as possibly being used by the local chamber of commerce to promote Greenville.
Ranked No. 21 out of 33, the city is noted for its bike trail following the Reedy River and known as the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Moreover, along the 22-mile trail, “many breweries and restaurants” can be visited along the way.
Greenville’s entry has up-to-date information; The Unleashed Dog Bar, which opened in July 2018, was mentioned. The bar and 3,500-square-foot dog park, which can be found in the Verdae area, was suggested as the finishing touch to a day of enjoying the Chattooga River rapids or visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains.
