Greenville is alive with the sound of music

Greenville is to host a number of outdoor concerts that feature blues, rock, country, and folk music throughout the spring and summer months.

The first option is The South Carolina Blue Reedy River Concerts, which will be held every Wednesday evening beginning June 3 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the TD Amphiteater at the Peace Center. This series features funk, pop, blues, reggae, soul, country, and Americana music. The series will open with Brandy Lindsey and the Punch, an Americana-pop band.

Locals can also enjoy ‘Music by the Lake’, held every Thursday evening until August 6 at the Furman University amphitheater, with ensembles, orchestras, and symphonies performing big band, jazz, bluegrass, and classical music, as well as tunes from Broadway. Coming up this Thursday, June 4 will be the Carolina Youth Symphony performing ‘Pirates By the Lakeside’. Someone in the audience every week receives a concert basket full of goodies.

Alternatively, the Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive series is every Thursday evening until August 27 at NOMA Square from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. This series features soul, rock, pop, country, Americana, and dance music. This Thursday’s offering will be the Craig Sorrells Project. Each week, local visual arts and arts organizations are spotlighted and proceeds from the concerts go to the Metropolitan Arts Council.
