Golf tournament to support local charities

The 18 charities for the BMW Charity Pro-Am tournament for this year have been selected.

South Carolina Charities, Inc. manages the golfing event, which will take place at the Thornblade Club in Greer, just a short distance from Greenville, The Preserve at Verdae, and The Reserve at Lake Keowee.

These organizations provide a wide range of services to the community, such as affordable housing, meal support, and veterans’ assistance. Some of the selected charities include Harvest Hope Food Bank, Greenville Tech Foundation, BMW Car Club of America Foundations, and Shriners Hospital for Children—Greenville.

According to the president, BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation, Bob Nitto, this tournament is a source of pride for the Upstate as it fosters the greater good by supporting the missions of the charities it is benefiting.

All of the money that they raise through ticket sales is directly returned to the nonprofit organizations involved. Through the volunteer program, individuals who volunteer earn $20 per day for the tournament charity of their choice. This might be a good avenue for the charities to use flyer printing companies to create pieces that would recruit volunteers for their charity. Through Pro-Am team sales, the respective charity keeps 50% of the fee for each foursome team.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from May 19 to May 22.
