Upcoming convention brings anime to Philadelphia

The J1-Con anime convention is taking place in Philadelphia for two days next month.

The convention will attract some of the top voice actors in anime, including Eric Stuart and Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld, artists for comics such as Pokémon, Space Dandy, and Ninja Scroll, and cosplayers like Gia Sanrio. Eric Stuart will also be giving a concert.

There will be panel discussions, a voiceover workshop, and tournaments for games like Street Fighter V, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

A cosplay costume contest will be awarding prizes to participants in five categories, including Female Hero, Male Villain, and Group. The convention is aimed at people of all ages who will be able to participate in activities such as karaoke and Anime Name That Tune.

A big part of the convention will be the vendors’ room. Visitors will be able to purchase Books, graphic novels, comics, Posters, and movies.

Many of the vendors will probably be investing in signage or Banners from their favorite Philadelphia printing company to draw more attention to their booths.

The J1-Con will be held at 820 Spring Garden Street from September 17 to 18. Tickets are $40 for adults for both days, or $25 for children between the ages of 5 and 10. For admission on just one day, prices are $30 or $20 on Saturday and $20 or $10 on Sunday. For the latest news, visit the official event website.
