Philadelphia thespians offered seats in upcoming class

Philadelphia thespians and other actors who would like to add some new skills to their personal toolboxes are welcome to join the list of registrants for a late January workshop.

The event will teach actors how to perform fight and combat scenes on stage, with three different styles on the agenda. It will run throughout the day, and the registration fee is $90.00 each.

The facilitator of the Taste of Violence Stage Combat Workshop will cover unarmed, knife and cloak, and rapier style combat techniques for the stage, and while it is for those 18 and up, youth who are at least 16 years of age may take part with signed parental consent. It will emphasize a non-violent approach, and it will begin with a discussion of an actor’s responsibilities and rights when it comes to performing fight scenes. The learning will be guided by Oliver Donahue, who is a Certified Instructor with the Society of American Fight Directors and Fight Directors Canada.

Actors may appreciate the opportunity to up their game, and a workshop provides the chance to do so. Copies of handouts and other learning materials, as well as certificates of completion, can all be prepared by Stationery printers.

This introduction to the art of theatrical combat will be on offer on Saturday, January 25 at 3916 Locust Walk. It will run from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.
