The top-rated haunted house in Philadelphia, ‘Terror Behind the Walls’, is currently halfway through its 2015 Halloween season.
With two new attractions alongside its popular scares, the prison-based haunted house is looking for its biggest year yet.
The attraction is based out of the Eastern State Penitentiary, once the most famous and expensive prison in the nation. The 11-acre, gothic castle-style complex is divided up into six separate attractions that require over 200 performers to realize. The scares are brought to life with the aid of Hollywood-style special effects and lighting, custom props, and animatronic creations.
In a move that separates it from other similar attractions, Terror Behind the Walls allows visitors to mark themselves to be potentially grabbed, held back, or dragged into hidden hallways to increase the scare factor. Another popular section is the Machine Shop, where industrial-themed nightmares are set in a space never before open to the public. One of the new attractions is Break Out, a prison break style event. The other is Quarantine 4D, where visitors are put into the role of quarantined disease victims with simulated symptoms, such as hallucinations and other mind-altering effects.
Flyers and other publicity are already circling for Terror Behind the Walls, which ends November 7. The Eastern State Penitentiary is located at N. 22nd St. and Fairmont Ave in Philadelphia. Those interested in tickets or more information should check out the website.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
