Philadelphia conference to focus on pesky plant

Many people may be familiar with the itchy effects of contact with poison ivy, but a Philadelphia conference will show that there is more to the plant than this.

The delegates at the 13th annual Philadelphia Poison Ivy Conference will be learning all about this “pesky” plant, including how to identify and avoid it. The Barnes Arboretum has invited anyone who is interested to attend, and the expected attendees will range from professional naturalists and researchers into its medicinal potential, to those who just find the species and its close relatives interesting.

The presenters for the day will be sharing their knowledge and research results as well as tips for dealing with poison ivy. There will be hands-on workshops, and everyone will have the chance to meet and mingle with others who are also interested in poison ivy. Topics including how bees pollinate the plants will be up for discussion, and breaks and lunch are included in the schedule. A tour of the McGuire Museum Barnes Foundation Art Museum will be on offer.

A conference provides the chance to engage in a deep dive into a particular subject area. Distributing information packages that contain materials prepared by a brochure printing company can allow attendees to continue learning even after a function has ended.

The conference will be highlighting these often unpopular plants on Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18. It is being offered thanks to Poison Ivy Horticulturist, Inc.
