Painting exhibition remains in the frame

The Philadelphia Watercolor Society is hosting its ‘International Exhibition of Works on Paper’ through the month of September and into October. The exhibit is also celebrating the 114th anniversary of the society.

This is a juried exhibition, with everything included having been chosen by juror Linda Daly Baker. The artists are also competing for several titles including the Award of Excellence, which comes with $1,000, and the Hooper Award, which pays $900; there is a total of $5,000 in cash prizes available.

The award winners will be decided on by artist Antonio Masi. The opening reception and awards ceremony is taking place in early October. There is also set to be a watercolor demonstration this weekend and a gallery talk to follow in October.

To encourage people to attend from all over the Philadelphia area, it is likely that organizers will invest in flyer printing services. Flyers can then be easily distributed in a variety of inexpensive ways.

The exhibition is taking place at the Community Arts Center's Duke Gallery in Wallingford until October 17. The watercolor demonstration will take place on September 20 at 12:00 pm, the opening reception is being held on October 5 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and the gallery talk is on October 11 beginning at 12:00 pm.
