Opportunity on offer for mental health training in Philadelphia

A day of first aid training for emergencies of the mind has been added to the agenda for Philadelphia, and those who take part can use these skills to provide help to someone in crisis.

The workshop will equip those who participate with knowledge and skills they can use to help someone who is experiencing a mental health emergency. An assortment of topics will be covered, and the goal is to make it possible for those who take part to provide support and help the individual facing difficulties to find professional and other assistance in the community.

The group will discuss depression, anxiety, psychosis and other mental health issues, and certificates will be presented at the end of the training. There is no cost to be included in the day, and lunch will be served.

The program has been organized by The Philadelphia Department of Mental Health, and along with aiding someone in crisis, the attendees can use what they have learned to help break the stigma that surrounds mental health. Course manuals and other printed materials for an occasion like this can be sourced from area Print shops.

This opportunity to become educated about how to support an individual who is coping with a mental health issue will be offered on July 19. It will be taking place at 520 South 61st Street.
