The 115th annual Mummers Parade is kicking off 2015 in Philadelphia.
This event is set to feature more than 10,000 participants of all ages, who represent around 40 local organizations. The participants are divided into five categories: Wench Brigades, Comics, String Bands, Fancies, and Fancy Brigades. These groups dress in costume, play music, and perform theater.
The parade will begin at City Hall and will travel along Broad Street to Washington Avenue. The participants will be judged and there will be food and beverage vendors along the route.
Leading up to the parade, and to its own performance at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Fancy Brigades will be holding a Mummersfest over three days at the end of December. Visitors will get a background view of the costume design and rehearsals, take part in arts and craft activities, and enjoy a children's costume parade. Fancy Brigades will be performing two shows at the Center on the day of the parade.
No doubt participants will be carrying all sorts of Signs and Banners which, may be provided by Philadelphia banner printing companies.
Mummerfest is being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from December 28 to 31, with tickets priced at $4 each.
