The 137th annual Philadelphia Charity Ball is taking place next month in the city.
The event consists of two separate parts, a formal sit-down dinner, and a debutant ball. The dinner portion will start off with an hour-long cocktail reception to be followed by a gourmet meal.
This will be followed by the presentation of the debutantes. As the tradition, the debutantes will be young women aged 18 and over. They are expected to wear white formal gowns which include gloves. The women are usually presented by their fathers or members of the Young Men’s Committee who are expected to dress in white tie and tails with white gloves.
After the presentation, music for dancing will be provided by the Lester Lanin Orchestra. This will be followed by the serving of breakfast at 11:00 pm.
Ticket prices vary depending on the age of the participant. They are $275 for adults and include dinner and the ball, or $225 for those between the ages of 18 and 35. Tickets for the ball only range in price from $150 up to $200.
A Philadelphia brochure printing firm will likely be asked to provide the program booklet that everyone will receive.
The Philadelphia Charity Ball will be held at the Crystal Tea Room on November 25 from 7:00 pm until after midnight. Call 610-613-1245 to learn more.
