Festival brings international performers to Philadelphia

The 21st annual Fringe Festival is taking place in Philadelphia next month for 17 days.

A presentation of Fringe Arts, the festival attracts performers from all over the country and the world. There will be over 1,000 performances at various Old City venues during the festival of theatre, dance, music, and visual arts. Each event has a separate ticket price, and there will also be several cabarets. The event will kick-off with a party at Ill Doots on September 8.

For those who cannot make it to the city, the Digital Fringe will feature many performances online from the official website.

The festival attracts at least 40,000 visitors each year and is advertised heavily in Philadelphia with items provided by a local Print company. In order to ensure that it continues each year, the food-focused ‘Feastival’ fundraiser is held just after the Fringe Festival.

This year’s Feastival will be hosted by chefs Nicholas Elmi and Michael Solomonov and restaurateurs Stephen Starr and Audrey Claire Taichman. Guests will enjoy food and drink from over 75 of the city’s best restaurants and bars. There will also be live performances and other activities. Tickets are $300 or $450 for early entry, and admission is restricted to those aged 21 and over. Call 267-443-1886 to learn more.

The Fringe Festival will be held from September 7 to 24, and will be followed by Feastival on September 28 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. For the most current information, contact Fringe Arts at 215-413-1318.
