Unique convention to bring visitors to Pittsburgh

Anthrocon 2014 is coming to Pittsburgh for four days this July. It is run by and presented for fans of human-like animal characters, and most of the participants usually dress up in animal costumes.

The convention is set to feature workshops on topics like CG Rendering and myths about fraternal organizations. Guests of honor are Jim Cummings and Lee Tockar, both of whom are voice actors, and attendees will have the opportunity to attend autographs sessions with each of them. There will also be panel discussions, an art exhibition and show (expected to feature more than 140 artisans and an art auction), a masquerade party, an introductory social mixer, and dances. In addition, a charity auction and raffle will raise funds for the National Aviary.

One of the most popular parts of the convention will be the dealers’ room. It will feature action figures, movies, Posters, and an Artists' Alley.

A souvenir "conbook" will also be available for purchase, so those who travel from all over, including North Versailles, will have something to remind them of the day. This likely was published with the help of local brochure printers.

Anthrocon will take place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh from July 3 - 6. Four-day passes are $60 and one-day tickets are $30 each. Visit the official event website for more information.
