Three groups from the local community have come together to help make Thanksgiving even more of a reason to celebrate for those in North Versailles and the surrounding area.
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Allegheny Community Sherriff’s Office, and also the North Versailles Walmart have joined together to make sure that underprivileged families in the area have a full turkey dinner on Thanksgiving day.
The contributions of these three groups will provide a festive meal for 1,000 people throughout Allegheny County. The Walmart donated the food, including turkeys totaling 4,000lb. Deputies form the Sherriff’s department took responsibility for transporting the donations to the food bank, which will then make sure that these get to those in need. Holiday Cards with a cheery greeting can be included in each box of food that is distributed to each of the families in need of one.
According to a press release from the Sherriff’s office, this will hopefully provide a very visual demonstration of how much can be done to help others when different groups from the community band together. It is hoped that this might inspire others to do the same.
In addition to this physical effort to lend a hand, Sherriff Mullen and the Allegheny Sherriff’s Office have contributed $1,000 to the KDKA-TV Turkey Fund to further lend a helping hand to those in need. Get a Free Quote for Holiday Cards
