North Versailles invited to sneak peek behind the farm gate

Growing fresh herbs offers a way for people to add some bright flavors to their food, and A North Versailles area workshop hosted by Churchview Farm will introduce these culinary plants and how to successfully cultivate them.

Grow Pittsburgh and Churchview Farm have scheduled an instalment of the Backyard Farm School that will offer an introduction to herb growing, and the cultivars that will be featured will be some of the top favorites for culinary use. The session will include a farm tour so the participants can see horticulture in action, and a local chef will also be contributing to the experience.

The group will be touring the farm's own herb beds, and after this, chef Csilla will explain how these ingredients can be used in the kitchen. Grow Pittsburgh will provide seedlings for the attendees to take home to help them get started with their own garden plots, and the registrants are reminded to wear a mask and observe social distancing protocols.

Tickets for this activity are on sale now, and they start at $30. Gardening cheat sheets that are filled with growing and harvesting tips, as well as recipes, can be prepared for an occasion like this by a local company that prints Letterheads and other custom materials.

This visit to Churchview Farm will be welcoming ticket holders on May 19. Everyone is asked to arrive by no later than 5:30 pm.
