The National Aviary gives the public an opportunity to get a sneak peek into the world of birds, and two of its popular programs will be combined for a one-night-only event.
This North Versailles area organization runs its Birding kayak Tour and Owl Prowls on different dates, but it will be offering both for one night only in mid-October. It will be facilitated by a subject matter expert and experienced guide, and tickets are $75 each.
The registrants will be taking to the waters of North Park Lake, and as the sun goes down, paddlers will be on the lookout for owls. They can also watch other species get settled in for the night, and instruction in kayaking will be courtesy of a guide from L.L. Bean. All equipment needed will be supplied to the attendees, and this includes safety supplies and binoculars. Kids age eight and up may take part, but they will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Hosting a birding excursion that takes to the water gives those who take part an opportunity to enjoy the hobby from a new perspective. Basic field guides and Journals paired with a set of promotional Pens will make it easy for the participants to record their observations.
This combination of Owl Prowl and Birding Kayak Tour will hit the water on October 15. It will begin at 5:30 pm.
