What's Happening in North Versailles, PA…

Many years ago, baseball star Lou Gehrig first brought a disease to the public’s attention, and those who call North Versailles home have been asked to be part of a fundraiser that will help fund the hunt for a cure.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), is a condition that affects an individual’s nervous system, and the fundraising walk planned by The ALS Association West Pennsylvania Chapter will give the public an easy way to help. Those who are interested can choose where they will take part, and they can run, walk, or roll their way along their chosen route using an assistive device.

The planners of the fundraiser explained that the monies raised will take aim at ALS in a variety of ways. Much of the proceeds will remain in the local area, providing support to those living with their disease as well as their families, and it will also play a role in funding advocacy initiatives. People can participate in memory of a loved one or to honor those currently living with this illness, and T-shirts that feature a special graphic design prepared for the occasion will be distributed to those who raise more than $90, provided they fill out the t-shirt order form before August 1.
