The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium helps people as well as animals, and it has partnered with a local nonprofit institution to help tackle food insecurity.
Residents of North Versailles are encouraged to attend an event being hosted at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. The facilitators will be collecting contributions for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and their organizers have made it easy to get involved.
To participate, individuals and families are asked to bring a generous donation of non-perishable food, which will be used to help stock the food pantry’s shelves for the winter months. Canned and boxed items, personal hygiene supplies, and items for infants, children, and seniors are in high demand. The organizers have asked people not to donate an any items in glass jars, nor any food that is past its expiry date.
To thank the public for their support of the project, everyone who makes a contribution will receive free admission to the zoo and aquarium. A poster printing company can help to spread the word to as many as possible about an upcoming charitable activity.
The team at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium will be teaming up with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to help address food insecurity. It will be held on December 30, and will run from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
