Runners taking to Butler's streets this month

The Butler Health System is holding its 39th Annual Butler Road Race at the end of June.

The contest will once again be held in downtown Butler. The proceeds will be used to provide cross country runners, both male and female, graduating from Butler County high schools with academic scholarships.

The race is a popular family-friendly event and organizers are expecting even more food and merchandise vendors in the vicinity of Diamond Park than ever before. Door prizes will also be available. As in previous years, the Butler Road Race will start and finish between the Butler County Courthouse and Diamond Park on Main Street.

With the large crowds drawn to the downtown area, local merchants will want to work closely with a flyer printing service to maximize their promotions leading up to the race.

Also returning this year will be Butler’s ‘Race within a Race’. The first will be the five-mile run, which will start at 9am, followed five minutes later by the start of the 2K Health Walk and Run. The five-mile course is USA Track & Field Certified and electric timing from ChampionChip is used, with splits at each mile.

The Butler Road Race has, over the last 21 years, provided 672 Butler County student athletes with $357,350 in scholarships. The race takes place on Saturday, June 28th.
