Butler residents invited to behind-the-scenes view of local farms

Individuals and families from Butler are invited to take part in a daylong event that will give them a chance to see where their food and other agricultural products come from, and meet the people who produce them.

At least seven farms from throughout the county will be taking part in this year’s Butler County Farm Tour, ranging from an alpaca farm to vegetable farms, tree nurseries, and a horse farm. The tour is self-guided, and each stop will be offering something special. Some will be offering food, hayrides, products for sale, face painting, spinning and weaving demonstrations.

A call has been put out to anyone who might be interested in lending a hand with the event. Those who would like to volunteer will be given a T-shirt and a special gift to thank them for their help. A company that produces Promotional Products will be able to provide the shirts and other items required for a function like this.

There is no charge to take part in the driving tour, which will be held on October 1 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Anyone visiting one of the farms is asked to do so between those hours, to supervise their children at all times, and to leave their pets at home.
