Changes have been made to the William Swanston Charitable Fund’s priorities concerning where its grant money will be distributed.
For 2019-2020, the Youngstown-based Fund is seeking proposals that will create health and wellness, education, and child services. Established in 1919, the Charitable Fund obtained its original resources from a local farmer, who wanted to assist his community, its occupants, and especially its children.
At present the fund provides grants for health and fitness enterprises, parent-involvement workshops, early childhood education, after-school programs, and anti-bullying strategies. It invites requests from nonprofit groups for pioneering projects to prevent or alleviate risk factors that result in disparities for youngsters in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Proposals will address immediate needs or measures to preclude their development. Priority will be given to those proposed services and programs dealing with children and education services, or health and wellness. Print shops are often tasked with printing proposals using high-quality paper and color graphics.
The procedure for pursuing a grant from the Swanston Fund says that grant applicants need to provide a letter of inquiry by Friday, December 13. Organizations will be notified, if their inquiry is approved, during February and will receive an invitation to turn in a full detailed proposal, which will be due in March.
In May 2020, the decisions regarding grant recipients will be announced.
