Fans of the paranormal have a series of events coming up in Lancaster, if they have the nerve to take part.
The Fairfield County Infirmary in Lancaster will be the site of a series of overnight Ghost Hunts. Participants arrive at the afternoon and leave the next morning.
The current facility comprises 35,000 square feet and has served the region for more than 170 years. It dates back to 1828, when township officers who were responsible for helping the poor approved the construction of a wooden building located to the north of Lancaster.
People who were orphaned, elderly, physically disabled, mentally ill, and destitute could receive medical care, shelter, clothing, and food at the new facility. By 1840, a brick building replaced the original wooden structure.
In 1865, additions to the main building were made, and outbuildings were constructed. Gas was added in 1917, and water lines were laid in 1926, but it was not until 1958 that the building was electrified.
Perhaps not surprisingly for a building with this history, the infirmary is thought by some to be haunted, and previous investigations have labeled it as “active,” citing equipment failure, slamming doors, and other phenomena. Brochure printing can be used to create pamphlets advertising events like this.
Aspiring ghost hunters can join the fun on July 16 at 4:00 pm through July 17 at 4:00 am. A second hunt begins July 17 at 4:00 pm and runs through the next morning. There are many other dates available, with the Eventbrite listing offering further details.
