An upcoming event will give people a chance to see what life was like on the Ohio frontier.
The settlers who first came to the Ohio Territory faced difficulties that were completely unknown. Now, an organization called Frontier Spirit 1799 has developed a presentation that shows what those days were like. In a theater outdoors, the organization presents five or six scenes from life in the early days of Fairfield County.
The presentations and activities are suitable for people of all agents. A tent village will be set up to house demonstrations by craftspeople who are experts in arts all but lost lost today, including weaving, spinning, blacksmithing, and soap making. A larger marquis tent shelters musicians who play period instruments, actors who perform skits, and local officials who wish to speak to the public. Activities and games for children are part of the fun.
Food, drinks, and snacks are available from concessionaires at reasonable prices. Among the treats is traditional bean soup, cooked over open fires in iron kettles. The event is scheduled for a weekend, and will run from 11.00 am until 4.00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. There is no admission charge, but Frontier Spirit would appreciate donations.
Frontier Spirit 1799 is scheduled for September 26 and 27 in Alley Park in Lancaster. Flyer printing can be used to create informative handouts for this kind of event.
