Lancaster welcomes downtown craft store

Being “black sheep" has worked well for Brenda Nelson and Jeff Barber, a married couple who own and operate the Two Black Sheep craft store in Lancaster.

Nelson and Barber moved their store from their location in the Plaza Shopping Center to a new spot inside the Kirn building, located at 117 South Columbus Street. They also changed the name of their store from ‘Country Collections by Two Black Sheep’ to simply ‘Two Black Sheep’. The name comes from the fact that both consider themselves as the black sheep of their families.

Other reasons for the move include the fact traffic through the shopping center declines in the summer, but being located downtown will enable them to draw patrons from events such as the ArtWalk and the Lancaster Festival. They also said they loved the new space, which has hardwood floors and brick walls, complements to their merchandise, which is craft items made in America.

The two are happy that many customers have followed them to their new location. Although they are unsure of what their operating hours will finally be, they are currently open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The duo could work with a flyer printing company to create a handout for distribution near the store. If they include a coupon, they might draw new visitors to their establishment.
