A detection system for weapons based on artificial intelligence will be used by the Antelope Valley (AV) Fair and Event Center, AV Alta Football Club, and the city of Lancaster for high-traffic community events.
A contract for four years has been approved by the City Council to purchase Evolv Weapons Detection System from ICU Technologies. These systems will cost around $360,000 and the three entities will share the cost.
Community events such as the Field of Drafts, the California Poppy Festival, the Halloween Haunt, and AV Alta soccer games that tend to attract large crowds is where the technology will be used for public safety purposes.
The Evolv systems use artificial intelligence and advanced sensors to screen guests as they enter an event at a natural pace. There is no need to stop or show the insides of belongings. These systems can scan 10 times faster than traditional metal detectors and are able to ignore personal items such as keys and cellphones.
Local Print shops can help provide more details about such systems and their benefits for the public with Brochures, Flyers, and other printed materials.
Director of Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services, Sonya Patterson, said that there are increasing concerns about public safety at such major events, so that proactive measures need to be taken to mitigate potential threats.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Brochures Get a Free Quote for Print
