Preparing animals for a show involves a lot of work, and Lancaster will be the location for an important qualification soon.
Exhibitors who are planning to show a market heifer or a market steer in the upcoming 2020 Fairfield County Junior Beef Show need to have the animals nose-printed, tagged, and weighed. They can have these necessary qualifications done at the new facility of the Fairfield Cattle Company in Lancaster.
Exhibitors coming to the facility should note that there is only one dock available, and that they will need to unload the trailer, have the animals processed, and then reload them. There are no facilities available that would allow people to unload multiple trailers at once, and in is also not possible to unload a trailer anywhere else except the dock, since the animals cannot be walked to the barn from the lot.
Volunteers will be assisting with the tagging and weighing, and all volunteers will remain on site until all calves in line by the cut-off time are processed. Everyone is asked to be patient during the process, and also to avoid trampling the grass by staying on the gravel.
The beef tag-in begins at 8:30 am on March 9, and will end at 11.30 am, or whenever the animals already in line at the time have gone through the measuring process. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts with guidelines for situations like this.
