Next weekend, a Lancaster school is to be the venue for the final concert of a brass band established 77 years ago.
In 1937, a group of locals got together and created the Lancaster Community Concert Association (LCCA), to bring first-class entertainment to the community and give residents much-needed relief from fears of the upcoming World War II. Except for two seasons during the Second World War, the LCCA has been in business ever since, but the association is calling time on the band this month.
LCCA president Rob Falvo said the group’s aim is to bring groups and activities to the city that everyone could share. He noted that the support of the community is the driving factor in the organization’s success, which has presented some 350 performances in Fairfield County.
LCCA’s publicity chairwoman, Linda McDonald, said that in the past 20 years, membership has declined and costs of performing have increased. In this case, LCCA’s board has decided to cease operations.
The final concert will be given at Fairfield Union High School in Lancaster at 3:00 pm on April 27. The LCCA hosts the New York Brass Arts Trio. Tickets are $25 each, but students aged 18 and younger can attend free.
LCCA could work with a poster printing company to create display Posters for windows that might also be sold as memorabilia.Get a Free Quote for Posters
