The Lancaster Police Department is setting up an event that will be fun for the whole community.
The annual “Kids and Cops Day” creates an atmosphere in which the residents of Lancaster and the first responders who serve them can interact in a positive way. Similar events take place in communities throughout the country.
Any time someone calls the police or fire department, the situation by definition is stressful, and can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, and growing distance and distrust between residents and police. Events like the upcoming “Kids and Cops Day” allow people to learn about how the police go about their jobs in detail, and talk to officers one-on-one. This can lead to better relations between police and residents, which in turn makes the entire community safer.
This is not the first time this event has taken place. At the 2018 celebration, a life-flight helicopter, a SWAT vehicle, and police cars were among the equipment on display. In 2016 and 2017, more than 1,000 children took part in this popular event. Flyer printing can be used to provide handouts to people attending this type of event.
At the time of writing, ‘Kids and Cops Day’ is set for May 16, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, at the parking lot at Ohio University in Lancaster. People who are interested in attending should check with organizers or the police in case the date of the event is changed.
