A popular tradition is planned for Lancaster later this year.
The Downtown Lancaster Winter Fest and Tree Lighting is now on the schedule, and is a great way to start the holiday season. There are a great many activities planned for attendees to enjoy in the downtown area, where many local businesses take part in the fun.
Operation FreeChee, a non-profit business that distributes tomato soup and cheese sandwiches for free will be on hand with their goodies, and free cookies and fresh kettle corn will be distributed by merchants as well. Rotary will set up a Santa House on the corner of Main and Broad, and there will be rides given in horse-drawn wagons. A scavenger hunt is also planned, with details still to come, and people will have a chance to enjoy that all-important visit with Santa. Seasonable music and entertainment is also part of the day.
In addition, Fairfield 211 will be the place to go for a Tour of Trees. The tour was moved to the 211 facility from the chamber offices when the event grew too large for that space. Fairfield 211 provides referrals to various services, such as finances, medication, food, and housing.
The festival is currently scheduled for December 5, from 12.00 pm until 4.30 pm. The tree lighting ceremony proper will take place at 4.45 pm. Banner printing can be used to create festive decorations for outdoor events like this.
