Lancaster finds time for Kindness

Vonnie McDonald, an insurance agent in Lancaster, is bringing the Kindness Revolution to the city, according to an article in the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette.

The Kindness Revolution is a national nonprofit organization, the members of which are all businesses. They provide the operating funds for Kindness Revolution, which does not receive any kind of government support.

The group seeks to raise the awareness of the value of kindness in communities, schools, customer service, and leadership. It does so by recognizing individual acts of kindness, and encouraging them.

McDonald's agency hands out bracelets saying that it's “cool 2B kind”, which serve to make the wearer mindful of these words and actions. The bracelet, McDonald says, reminds people each day to deliberately choose kindness.

McDonald and her agency distribute the bracelets free of charge to anybody who wants one. They come with a card that explains how the Kindness Revolution works. It says:

“Thank you for your kindness! Proudly wear this wristband until you receive or witness an act of kindness . . . then, pay it forward.”

In the future, McDonald wants to carry the kindness message to local schools. She also plans to recognize a ‘Soldier of Kindness’ each quarter; honoring an organization or individual who has shown, by their actions, that they are committed to being kind.
