Whether they are running for themselves, someone they love, or just to make a difference, the participants in a Lancaster fundraising event will all be working to help make cancer a thing of the past.
Both a 5k run and two-mile walk will be included in the Cancer Care Run and Walk planned for Martens Park, and the organizers are hoping to beat last year's fundraising total of $11,500. The monies will remain in the local area, helping to pay for lifesaving cancer screenings and other services. The registration fee is currently $25 each, although this will increase as the date for the activity gets closer.
Both the start and finish line for the day will be located in Martens Park, and the registration kiosk will be open one and a half hours before the race’s start time. Chip timing is included in the registration fee, and those who sign up early will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt that sports a special graphic design prepared for the occasion.
Anyone who would like to support this activity but cannot do so in person is encouraged to order a memorial sign, which can be printed with a unique message.
The Cancer Care Run and Walk will be taking steps to curb the disease on October 9. Its website can be consulted for more details
