Chalk the Block makes return to downtown Lancaster

A community coloring event is being planned in Lancaster for this summer, giving local families a fun way to come together and create something special.

The Chalk the Block event is getting ready to return to Fountain Square in Lancaster this July, with participants coloring the pavement surrounding the square. The drawing session is open to artists of all ages, and spectators are welcome to come witness these artists in action. Anyone interested in participating can register and reserve a small or large section of pavement.

The drawing process will take place between July 15 and July 17th, with all drawings needing to be completed by 6:00 PM on the 17th. The event will tie into Lancaster’s Art Walk, which will be held later on July 17th. Poster printing is an affordable and effective way to promote events like this around the town during the weeks leading up to the start date.

Registered artists will be able to pick up their chalk from the Lancaster Festival Office on Wheeling Street as the festival’s date draws closer. The Art Walk will then run from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, showing off the completed works.

Artists can begin creating at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, July 15th in downtown Lancaster. Interested individuals can register online or over the phone. Small pavement squares are $6 and large squares are $12.
