Boardman’s St.Elizabeth Hospital has seen an increase of 33% in baby deliveries, due most likely to the closure of other local maternity wings.
It was reported recently by WKBN.com that during the last three months 735 babies have been delivered at St Elizabeth Boardman, which averages out to be about eight births per day. In fact, in August of this year, the hospital reached a new high in deliveries (257) for the two years since the maternity ward was moved to the Boardman hospital from Youngstown.
This increase is likely due to Alliance, Jameson, and East Liverpool hospitals closing their maternity wards, leaving Boardman to absorb their numbers. St. Elizabeth Boardman has 14 labor rooms, and 33 private after-delivery rooms. Vice president of women’s services, Anna Klejka, explained to WKBN.com that birth volumes of 200 per month are now normal, and far bigger than the 150 per month of 2015.
St. Elizabeth Boardman is qualified to treat high-risk babies, and is the only Level 3 OB Unit in the tri-county area. This is an example of the type of information a hospital may want to send to its flyer or brochure printing service. Moreover, on the same floor as its maternity ward, the hospital has access to a neonatal intensive care nursery, run by Akron’s Children’s Hospital.
