The position of Boardman Township director of zoning and development has been filled after a nearly three-month search by the township administrator and trustees.
The candidate selected to succeed Sarah Gartland is Krista Beniston, who formally accepted the position on June 29. Gartland vacated the post several months ago following a two-year stint.
Beniston, who will be paid $60,236 per year for a three-year contract, will begin her duties on August 1. This will give her and the township ample time to secure custom Business Cards and Letterheads carrying her name and new position.
The new position holder received bachelor degrees from Miami University in Oxford in geography as well as urban and regional planning. She continued her education at Ohio State University and received a Master’s in city and regional planning
In addition to her education, Beniston also brings her previous work experience to the role. According to Township Administrator Jason Loree, he and the trustees took their time to find the ideal fit for the position, and it was her experience that sold them on her.
Currently, Beniston is employed by the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study as a planning coordinator. Previously, she worked in Dublin, Ohio as a planning assistant in Long Range Planning and Land Use.
The new road superintendent, Marilyn Kenner, will work with Beniston as she gets acclimated to her new position.
