Environmental group to organize climbing club for Boardman school

The Environmental Collaborative of Ohio (ECO) will coordinate a climbing experience for Boardman students at Ascend Climbing Youngstown.

The Boardman Center After School Climbing Club is a program where children can learn how to rock climb in a safe environment. The clubs offered at the climbing facility are designed to help young people in the community develop their minds and bodies. The program will also include activities such as yoga and slack-lining. All students who go to the Boardman Center School are invited to participate in the climbing club series.

ECO is a woman-led organization that coordinates fun and engaging programs to provide students with meaningful learning experiences. The principal and director of technical services for the group is Courtney Boyle, an engineer with more than 16 years of experience managing technical municipal projects. The organization’s director of education is Joshua Boyle, a teacher who has volunteered for groups such as The Mountaineers and the Northwest Avalanche Center.

The sessions at the climbing club will take place weekly from Wednesday, January 18 to Wednesday, February 8. Each date of the program will last from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Students must pay $80 to attend the four-week club. Those in the program are expected to bring their own snacks and drinks to the climbing venue. Organizations in charge of clubs like this may promote their club activities with poster printing.
