Boardman presentation to discuss local history
A member of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society (MVHS) will give a presentation at the Tyler History Center in Boardman.
Those who like learning about history can attend a discussion led by Brooke Bobovynik about the modernization of Youngstown during the early 1900s. The event is part of the MVHS’s Bites and Bits of History series, which is a program where local historians can share information about Ohio’s past. People can eat lunch while listening to the presentations. Bobovynik is a curatorial assistant for the MVHS and a curatorial specialist at the Arms Family Museum. She also interned at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor.
The MVHS is an organization that was formed in 1875 to collect and preserve Mahoning Valley’s history. The society’s archival library opened in 1984 in the Carriage House behind the Arms Family Museum. Other structures maintained by the organization include the Harry Burt/Ross Radio Building and the Tyler History Center. People can become members of the MVHS to get benefits like free admission to all of the organization’s sites and discounts on programs.
The Bites and Bits of History session will be held on Thursday, December 19th at noon. There is no cost to take part in the program, and registration isn’t necessary to hear Bobovynik’s lecture. Those interested in joining the MVHS can pay $40 for a general membership. Historical organizations that host educational activities like this may use printing services to promote their events.
