A recent announcement by the Boardman Township board of trustees indicates that Chief Jack Nichols will retire on January 3, 2018, 40 years to the day since he started as a patrol officer.
Nichols has ended his 40 years of continual service to the Boardman community to free up time to spend with his four grandchildren, which include a set of triplets. Looking back on his career in law enforcement, the chief was quoted on Vindy.com as being proud of working at the same place for four decades, as this is something few people can claim to have done.
Tom Costello, a Boardman County trustee, spoke glowingly of the chief, as did many other members of the board. It will be over 10 months before a Stationery printing service will be conducting any business card printing for a new Boardman Township police chief, which Costello pointed out was a good thing because Nichols would be hard to replace.
Nichols has held a number of positions over the last 40 years, starting out as a patrol officer than subsequently holding the positions of sergeant, lieutenant, and captain before becoming chief.
The township issued a news release detailing the chief’s many accomplishments, among which were establishing a Care Call system for those with disabilities and senior citizens, and the installation of a drop-off box for prescription drugs.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
