Westbury kids invited to join bug safari experience
With many people scrambling to find vacation ideas for this summer, a local venue has made plans to offer a wildlife exploration experience to enjoy close to home.
Old Westbury Gardens will be offering a pint-sized safari, which will see kids learn about just how interesting bugs and other creepy crawlies can be, even if they are just the ones that they can find right in their own backyard. It will be an hour-long hands-on activity.
This all-ages event will encourage parent and child pairs to take to the beds at the Gardens to hunt for specimens with six, eight, or even dozens of legs. They are advised to bring along a butterfly net and collecting jars, and the organizers noted that they can expect to find butterflies, grasshoppers, spiders, millipedes, and other tiny garden residents during their search.
This sort of activity can be a fun way to introduce children to the wildlife that is all around them. Giving each boy or girl who takes part a personal field journal, which can be sourced from stationery printers in the local area, may encourage them to keep on learning about minibeasts even after the event is over.
Old Westbury Gardens will be welcoming kids for this mini safari on Saturday, August 15. It will begin at 11:00 am.
