Diabetes awareness event empowers Westbury
This February Community Action for Excellent Health (CAFEH) will host its second annual “Love Your Health: A Diabetes Awareness and Empowerment Event.”
The event will be a day dedicated to education, empowerment, and connection for diabetes patients. It aims to equip attendees with the tools and resources needed to manage and understand diabetes while fostering a feeling of community.
The four-hour program will feature various activities and discussions designed to inspire positive change. The expert-led workshops will provide practical guidance on how to prevent diabetes, care strategies, and wellness advocacy. Alongside these sessions, participants will hear firsthand accounts from individuals who have navigated the challenges of diabetes, showcasing the power of resilience and determination.
The event will also introduce participants to CAFEH’s unique approach to health empowerment, which focuses on increasing health literacy, recognizing symptoms, fostering healthy routines, and emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy and communal support.
