Westbury area workshop to explore rights and responsibilities
A local organization is offering a presentation that will provide insight into the First Amendment, voting, and other rights, and it will be taking place near Westbury this fall.
Anyone who would like to learn more about how the nation’s political process works and what their rights and responsibilities are when it comes to the First Amendment may want to include the “Get Informed! Civics 101 - Understand How it Works” session in their November plans. Organized by Get Informed New York, it’s open to all, and the registration fee is $30.
The session will cover a variety of subjects, ranging from how a potential candidate can get their name on the ballot, to how pending bills become law and how to look these bills up. Voter registration forms will be available so that everyone who participates can put their newly gained knowledge to work in choosing a candidate to support.
Taking part in this type of event can give citizens a chance to brush up on their knowledge of civics and the electoral process. Promotional pens and notebooks can be handed out to the attendees so that they can easily jot down any points they feel are important.
Melville’s Hilton Long Island is scheduled to be the location for this opportunity for citizens to brush up on their knowledge of civics and their country's political system. It will be offered on November 7.
