Syosset session to help keep tick bites at bay
Savvy outdoor enthusiasts know to be on the lookout for ticks and mosquitoes, and this will be the focus of a presentation on offer for Syosset and the surrounding communities tomorrow.
This February, Cornell University's Dr. Judy Gangloff-Kaufmann will be facilitating a workshop on how to prevent bites from ticks and mosquitoes. Some of the latest data from the local area will be included.
During the online presentation, Dr. Gangloff-Kaufmann will review the tick species commonly encountered in the area, and will explain which ones may be vectors of Lyme disease and other illnesses. The learners will discover what steps to take to control mosquitoes and other pests on their own property, and also what to do if bitten. This activity is being offered to the community thanks to the efforts of the North Shore Land Alliance, and is open to anyone who feels it may be useful.
Even when functions are held online, their participants may appreciate receiving hard copy versions of the learning materials. These can be prepared by local print shops, which will also be able to supply an assortment of poster printing and other services for such events.
This Zoom event has been scheduled for tomorrow, February 25, and it will start at 6:00 pm. Advanced sign-up is mandatory and can be arranged online, and the joining details will be supplied upon registration.
