Syosset reception hall hosts toy drive
The town of Syosset knows how to collect toys. While many places simply leave out large cardboard boxes for people to drop off unwrapped, new toys, Syosset turns the toy drive into an all-out event.
On Monday, December 10, people were invited to attend the Syosset Toy Drive at Fox Hollow - an upscale reception hall and venue. The toys were collected as part of the annual Toys for Tots drive, sponsored by the 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines.
After dropping off their toys, families and individuals were able to enjoy the evening. Dance students from the North Shore Studio of Dance performed two dance routines, the ‘Rag Doll’ and the ‘Man with the Bag’. Holiday songs and pop hits were played by Top Hat Entertainment. The event also featured plenty of kid-centric activities, including face painting, writing letters to Santa Claus, and even getting photos taken with the man himself.
One of the main attractions of the evening was a ceremony in honor of World War II veteran James Gerald Dillon, whose grandchildren recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and a Garden City Marines division did a Color Guard routine. The night wrapped up with a tree lighting ceremony.
The goal of the toy drive was to collect 1,000 toys. Syosset printing services could have been made use of to spread the word of the toy drive and holiday event. This year marked the third year the toy drive event had been held at Fox Hollow. It was sponsored by the Scotto family, who were collecting the toys for ‘Toys for Tots’.
