Syosset and neighboring villages create quality of life task force
The Town of Oyster Bay, which includes Syosset and a number of other villages, has announced a new Quality of Life Task Force, designed to address a number of concerns throughout the community.
Oyster Bay is regularly recognized as a "best place to live" by several outlets, which has led to a regular increase in the value of properties, businesses, and homes in the area. Towns seeking to improve the quality of life for residents can use marketing services to spread the word about their programs.
Among the issues the new task force will address are "zombie homes" and illegal housing. Zombie homes are those properties that are neglected by their owners or otherwise not maintained. Other concerns include noise levels, parking and landscaping, while illegal housing refers in particular to illegal rooming houses.
Along with helping to maintain the quality of life in Syosset and other villages, the new task force will help to keep residents safe and will help protect their overall well-being. As Tom Hand, a councilman, told Patch,
In an effort to make the initiative collaborative, members of the task force will come from a variety of departments in the Town, including the Town Attorney, Department of Planning and Development, and Code Enforcement.
